Can I Sit By You?

I picked up an old CD today. A group I listened to in High Shcool and part of college. They are a small no name band based out of Castle Rock, Colorado. When I first started listening to them, they were called ‘S.o.K‘ (Son’s of Korah – Psalm 42) but after their bass player dropped to get married, they got a new guy and changed their name to ‘three cord wonder.’ Anyway, one of my favorite songs from their album ‘the show is over: a tribute’ is called ‘Can I Sit By You.’ Its a great song with great lyrics and it hits me everytime I listen to it. So, this morning, I thought I’d share the lyrics:

I feel like a life-raft Continue reading ‘Can I Sit By You?’

Another Week Begins…

This weekend was pretty fun. As soon as Darren got off work on Friday, we headed down to go camping at Lemon Res. It turned out to be pretty fun. Other than the mesquito’s that is. Kelli and I ended up sharing a tent, so I made Darren bunk with Michael. The smores were great, and Lucy had fun. She did end up getting into something, though. So when we got home, she was sick again. We immediately put her back on her bland diet and she seems to be doing better this afternoon, but we’ll see how she is tomorrow to see if we need to get her more antibiotics again Continue reading ‘Another Week Begins…’

Weekend Plans

It rained almost all day yesterday, and I loved it. I love the smell of rain, and I love being in the rain. Especially when we really need the moisture. It got crazy last night, though. Last night was pint night at Steamworks, but because the rain got a little harder last night, they closed the patio down and moved all of those table instead. Because of this, it created a back up in the line and by the time we got there, which is the same time we usually get there and get a table almost right away, it was a 1/2 hour wait. We didn't think this was too bad, so we waited for about 20-25 minutes and they were still saying about a 1/2 from then. So, we decided to skip pint night all together and stopped at the liquor store on the way home to get some beer. Of course, Darren invited everyone that was there for pint night. They all showed up and we ended up playing Apples to Apples until midnight. So, needless to say, I'm very tired this morning, but it was fun. Darren had a bit too much fun last night, but he seemed he was feeling much better this morning.

We are still supposed to go camping tonight, but I don't think we are looking forward to it as much as we once were. Since it rained last night, it's going to be pretty muddy. Also, we found out yesterday afternoon that there is a fire ban in the whole county due to the dry weather lately. I was really looking forward to roasted marshmallows and smores. That's the best part about camping.

I'm going to fill up the propane tank for our tiny grill today, too. No, we didn't get a new one. We still don't have enough to splurge on it. But, we are going to use Darren's old camping grill and we found a small stand for it so we don't have to do it on the ground. I promised him we could have brats and beer on Saturday night in honor of summer. So, I'm going to fill up the tank before we leave tonight. I think we might invite over Rob and Sam since we at at their place this week. Its kind of fun doing the dinner BBQ thing. We really just like being outside in the evenings in the summer. I think I say that a lot. But it is so true.

It’s Flip Flop Season!

I have only one thing to say right now: It's Offically Flip Flop Season! I love summer time weather. The flip flops, the skirts, the tank tops, the warm summer nights. It's already staying warm later and thats the time I love being outside!

Last night Darren and I went over to some friends' house for dinner. It was a lot of fun. We even took Lucy so she could get out of the house and play with some other dogs. We had a lot of fun. Sometime after we get our grill, we are going to have them come to our place and BBQ. After we got home, I finally got my tire changed back. The real tire is fixed and back on my car now. Its great to have a normal car back now! Well, I suppose as normal as my car can be, that is.

Darren and I are going to go camping this weekend. Just Friday night with our church. I'm excited to get out and do something. He'll get antsy and want his computer, but I think he'll survive for one night! It'll be good to get out around Durango with other people. I feel like we've become homebody's and I hate that feeling. I'm excited for camping though. I really like camping…especially the smores and brats! Summertime, outside at night, around the campfire…what's not to like about it? Ok, so there is no place to take a shower, or actually make yourself look decent, but who cares? It's outside! So, now that I sound like a freak who is rambling, I should get back to work.

I heart weekends.

It was a great weekend of not doing much at all. It was nice just to hang out and relax at home. Darren even downloaded the Rosetta Stone software and started to help me learn Spanish. Its kind of fun. A lot easier that I expected with this software. They teach you in the way a real two-year-old would learn to speak. Other than that, the only real productive thing we did was clean our cars. And when I say 'clean our cars' I mean we went all out — including the entire inside: washing, vaccuming, cleaning the spots off the upholstry and we even got rid of some of our scratches. Its kind of nice to be driving a clean car again. I feel like I haven't done it in a really long time. Although, as per usually, my car is always having problems. We got home last night and I had a flat tire! I guess what happened was when Darren was checking my tire pressure, it sounded like the valve got stuck and was leaking air, but he put the cap back on and thought that fixed it. But alas, it was flat when we got home. I'm taking the tire out to Basin Co-op to see if they can fix it, but they said they won't even be able to look at it until tomorrow. Hopefully they can fix it and I won't have to get a new tire! It's not that we couldn't afford it, but we are saving up for a grill right now and I really want to be able to get one! We want to have BBQ's this summer.

Speaking of summer, I bought some beer brats in honor of the weather becoming more 'summer-like' this weekend. Of course, we want a grill to cook them on. I am hoping we can get one this weekend. Then it's 'Bring on the Brats!' Did I mention that I love summer? Especially the weekends in summer?

Weekly Update #1

All I can say right now is that I am so glad that it is Friday! Even after a short week, I am in much need of a weekend. Let's review the week.

Update on Lucy: Lucy is doing better. She has more energy, and is eating and pooping normally! (Ok, gross, I'm sorry. But its exciting!) She is on special food and taking antibiotics and will still be doing this for the next couple of days. At least its working! The vet said that the other dog food she got into over the weekend ended up giving her a bacterial infection in her digestive system. Apparently she just has a very sensitive system and can't handle much of anything she's not used to. We're going to start switching her off of puppy food soon, too, and they said to do it gradually over 4 weeks. Seems crazy, but as long as she doesn't get sick!

Update on work: Work has been good, but crazy this week. We've been very short handed again, and some overtime has been required. However, the overtime from last week is paying off. I love the number on my paycheck! I'm hoping that we can get more help soon. Espcecially because I'm really wanting that job in gift. It's opening later this month, and I know that they have to advertise to the whole company, but I would really like to move over! At least my meeting with Joy got me in a little more. They know I want it, and they know I want it bad.

Update on everything else: Everything is going really good! Darren is loving work, and they are getting ready to do another release today. He just got a raise which takes effect this month, and we are very excited about that. We are trying to work out details so that we can head up to North Dakota for the first week or so of July to see his family. He hasn't been up there for almost 6 years, and their family reunion is always around the 4th of July. We are hoping it all works out. Other than that, we are making normal summer plans: lots of mini golf, tubing down the river, camping, weekend trips, and of course, BBQ's! We are so ready for summer!
