Lunches & Bunches

Today is good.  It’s Friday, I get free lunch on my company, and I get to leave a few hours early. Then, we’re heading into the mountains for the weekend. Or at least until tomorrow afternoon. Our church retreat is this weekend. I’m excited to get away, if even for a night. Lucy is going to stay with Brittany, and I’m sure she’ll have fun playing with Callie. First, though, she has to go to the vet this afternoon. She has to get her shots and I think she has a bacterial infection again. I’m not sure if they will do anything for it. Usually it gets better on its own. They did give her antibiotics once though, so maybe they will do that and it will make her feel better faster.

I also get free lunch today. Once a month my boss takes our department on an outing. In July we went rafting. That was fun. Usually we just go out to lunch though. Today we are going to a place called ‘Seasons.’ I’ve never been there, but Darren won’t go there because he thinks it’s too fancy for him. I’m excited to try it, though.

Fajitas and Gilmore Girls

Tomorrow is Mike’s birthday. Darren’s parents are going out of town, though, so we are celebrating tonight. I’m kind of looking forward to fajitas, even though we just had some a few days ago. Mike’s birthday is the beginning of our present-buying madness season. It starts with Mike’s birthday, Sophie’s in October, Julie’s in November, then Christmas for everyone in December, Daryl, Janet and Bryce all have a birthday in January, and I have a birthday in February. Then we have a break until Darren’s in July.

We’ll probably end up doing something with Miike and Julie tomorrow night, as well, since we’ll still be in town. But tomorrow is also exciting because it’s the season primere of Gilmore Girls. I know, I’m an addict. I’ve been waiting all summer for this! I finally finished the 6th season, with the help of a few reruns and downloads. It’s supposed to be a good one, and the way they left the season finale hanging, I’d imagine it is going to be good.

The Faith

Darren and I started a new study last night. It technically started last week, but I was sick and all they did was choose which book they were going to do. They study is a series of four books: The Life, The Walk, The Faith, and The Disciple. Everyone was to choose a  book to study depending on where they were in their spirituality and what they wanted to focus on. I, as you can probably already tell, chose The Faith. I have only done one chapter in it so far, but I have already gotten a lot out of it. There was one passage we were to read from 1 Chronicles and answer a question. The question it posed was how did our view coincide or differ from that of David’s in the passage? In the passage, David was strong in his faith, thanking God for all he had done for him and given him throughout his life. I couldn’t say the same thing. I’ve been set in this mentality that whatever I have, whatever I have done, it is because I have worked for it and I have earned it for myself. Because of this, I realize that I have failed so many times in giving the credit to who it really belongs to. I often leave God out of the credits of my life, and I thank every tangible thing around me instead. Continue reading ‘The Faith’

Blues & Brews Pictures

Finally! I have some pictures from the Blues & Brews Festival! The first few pictures were of us hanging out all afternoon with Nate and Kelly, then of course, the best performer of the day! We got to stand stage side with Michael and Kristina! Continue reading ‘Blues & Brews Pictures’

The 4400

Darren and I have really been getting into this show, The 4400. This is surprising for me especially, seeing that I typically hate Sci-Fi. But for some reason, on this one, I’m hooked. We only have one episode left for season two, but I was sad to find out we already missed season three. We’ve been watching from downloaded episodes, and apparently the actual season airs from June to August. So, we just missed season three. I’m sure Darren will download the third season, but now we have to wait until next June for season 4! I’d definitely recommend this show to anyone who likes suspense. It’s a awesome show! Check it out!

Golfing into Retirement

One of the men in our finance department is retiring the end of this month. As a retirement present, the company bought him a $500 e-card to a golf website. They wanted something to physically give him, so they asked me to make up a gift card to give to him at his party today. This is my job, so it was kind of fun creating one for someone I know. I found the cutest golfer in the process, though. I, of course, added him to the card. It was a cute graphic I had to share, but it also made me miss golf. I didn’t go at all this summer. Maybe if it stays warm enough, I can talk Darren into going with me this weekend.

John Mayer and Snow!

Darren, Kelly, Nate and I all went up to the Blues & Brews Festival in Telluride yesterday. It was a ton of fun just getting to hang out, drink beer, and listen to music. The best part was last night, though. We stayed for the headliner act: John Mayer. Of course, this was the main reason we got the tickets.  I found out John Mayer was playing and I got Darren tickets for his birthday. He had a silly grin on the whole time. I think he had fun. Continue reading ‘John Mayer and Snow!’

Bad Moods…Good Beer

Labor day weekend was good. We just hung out a lot, cleaned the house, and had fun doing it. We were also busy on the social calendar. Saturday night, we headed over to Russell and Anina’s for some good ol’ Peurto Rico and Arrested Development. Sunday, we had church then Russell and Anina came over. On Monday, we hung out, then Michael and Kristina came over for dinner. Continue reading ‘Bad Moods…Good Beer’
