me:3 | finals:0

It’s done! Finals are done! I found out already that I aced my morning final. I didn’t ace the afternoon one, I’m sure, but I feel like I did pretty well. My final prints were graded, and I did really well on them. I really like them, and now I have mat boards that I can use again.

It feels good to have the first quarter behind me. I’m not so “new” anymore. I get a week off, then second quarter starts up Oct. 1. I’m excited. I don’t get my official schedule until next Friday, but I have my tentative schedule. I’ll be taking two more classes then I am now. I’m loving my classes so far. I hope that next quarters will be just as fun.

I’m going to make D go out and celebrate with me tonight. At least have one beer somewhere. Not sure exactly what we’re going to do yet. I’ll plan something fun.

me: 1 | finals: 0

I had my first final on Monday. It went a lot better than I thought. I don’t think I aced it by any means, but I hardly failed it. The critique went pretty well, too. I only stayed for half the class. Both of my ears ended up plugging up and I could hardly hear. I went, took the test, did my critique and left. It’s kind of nice knowing that my first class is over. I thought it was going to be really weird going back to school, and it had it’s moments, but for the most part, it was easier then I remember. My last two finals are tomorrow, and I just finished my project for it this afternoon. It didn’t turn out the greatest, but I think I’ll still do pretty well. I guess only time will tell.

It’ll be nice to have a week off before new classes start. Hopefully I can get over this whole stupid ear/congestion thing.

oh where, oh where has my normalcy gone?

I feel like I’m on a sickness see-saw. When I woke up this morning, my right ear was fine. Very little pressure, and no pain. Almost back to normal. However, since I was sleeping on my right side, trying to get my right ear to drain, the fluid sunk deeper into my left ear again, and again my left ear has tons of pressure and aches. I feel like this will never end. I just want to feel better already. Enough of this crap! Anyway, we have people coming over this afternoon to watch the Broncos/Raiders game with us, so I’m hoping I can just make it through that… Then I’ll have the rest of the evening to chill, hang out, and sleep. Then, of course, I have to get up early tomorrow morning to start working on my final project for tomorrow night… I think I can get it done. As long as I can get it done, I think I’m going to see if my teacher will just let me take the final and hand in my project instead of having to do a whole critique on it… I really just need rest right now. Soon, I will be normal again…

sucky baseball games and more ear aches

So I finally fell asleep about 6:30am this morning and Darren woke me up about 9:30. Even thought I got very little sleep, the sleep I did get was good. When I woke up, there was still pressure in my ear, however, that’s all it was. Things were kind of echo-ing, but there was no pain. I figured I was finally in the clear. No more of this crap, at least no more beginnings…it was all downhill from here, right? Wrong.

We picked up my grandparents early afternoon and had a great afternoon hanging out and catching up with them. We took them to the baseball game tonight, and even though the Rockies were pretty much sucking it up (they lost 10-2), we still managed to have some fun. Until about the 6th inning for me, anyway. I started getting a little pain in my right ear this time. (It was my left ear that kept me up last night.) So, again, I sit here, not being able to sleep, trying to distract myself from the pain and ringing. The pain is lingering longer this time, but I’m hoping that I will be able to get at least a few ounces of sleep. At this point, though, it looks unlikely. Lucy is sleeping next to me, so the comfort is nice, since Darren is snuggled into our wonderful bed, and me out on the couch, not wanting to bother him. So I will recline here, probably for the next few hours, doing and looking at almost absolutely nothing…

Ear Aches and No Beer

I fear I spoke too soon. I was just beginning to feel like myself again, and I woke up this morning at about 1:3oam (it’s now about 4:00am) with a severe ear ache. Darren had this a few nights ago, so I’m pretty sure it’s connected to whatever we had, but he hadn’t mentioned it was this bad… Although, come to think of it, he had almost resorted to getting drunk to dull the pain. I can’t sleep because of the pain, and no medications are helping it so far. (But at least when Darren had it, it only lasted a few hours, so maybe their is hope?) So, I’ve resorted to trying to distract myself. It’s kind of making me dizzy, which makes writing this interesting. But at least Lucy came to join me for company.

I had another fun experience last night, when I realized that in all my glories of being sick and ‘out of it,’ I lost my wallet. Alas, I have never lost my wallet before, and it’s kind of scary to know all that information is out there, but luckily, no weird charges have popped up yet. I spent the night on the phone to various companies canceling credit cards and getting new accounts settled. Unfortunately, this means that I won’t be able to drink beer at the Rockies game tomorrow. Boo. But hopefully I will still be able to enjoy myself…granted I can hear and I’m not in dire pain.

I can’t really think right now… And maybe that isn’t necessarily a bad thing at the moment, since I am wanting to sleep, but I find myself too awake and full of pain to sleep. I’m sure I will find something else to distract me for a while.

Maybe I should check WebMD to see what exactly this ear thing is…

TGIF | Busy Weekends and Sickness

D and I are finally recovering from having been sick all week. Totally unexpected, as it came on so suddenly. Apparently, we had viral pharyngitis. It’s like a sinus infection and strep throat combined, only worse. Unfortunately for us, since it’s viral, no medicines but pain killers. We did get some really cool stuff that numbs your throat. That was a weird feeling.  I’m finally getting enough energy today to actually do some work and start cleaning the house that got so bad when neither of us could do anything.

It’s a good thing that I’m getting our energy back, since it will be a busy weekend and an even busier week. This weekend we are taking my grandparents to the Rockies game, which hopefully will be a good game. Sunday the Broncos play the Raiders, so of course D and I are hosting a game-day party sporting the game in HD! (w00t!) Then come Monday, finals week begins! I’m not too worried, but I do need to get some studying in. I’m sure it will go fine.

I’m excited for taco night. I can finally eat real food! But first, I’m off to play with pictures of cows and read about the color wheel!
